Zinfandel - 1998, Dusi Vineyard, Paso Robles
Dusi Vineyard has been famous for superlative Zinfandels for over 55 years. Located in the Templeton district south of Paso Robles on limestone and sand soils, this dry framed vineyard yields Zinfandels of structure and delicious fruit. This wine was the first commercial harvest of 1998, accenting it's unique fruit qualities and minimizing the alcohol component. The wine shows fully ripe flavors with a chemical structure approaching perfection.
NV Zinfandel - Non vintage, Wirz Vineyard, Cienega Valley
Wirz Vineyard was planted between 85 to 115 years ago at 2000 feet elevation above the valley floor. Moderated by coastal influences and bisected by the San Andreas Fault, the dry farmed vineyard is a mixture of granite and limestone soils, bringing ideal acid and ph values to this wine. These elements allow this vineyard-grown on its own rootstock - to consistently produce moderate bodied wines with spicy fruit and reserved tannins.
This wine is our first non-vintage Zinfandel. River Run is recognized as a producer of stellar late harvest Zinfandel as well as table wine Zinfandel. This cube is the blend of the not quite 2001 late harvest zinfandel and the lighter bodied barrels of the 2000 vintage wine creating a wine that can be enjoyed immediately and appreciated for several more years.
Less Than 120 Cases Produced.
