The grapes were harvested over a three week period to optimize the broadly attractive taste profile from a mountain vineyard in Redwood Valley. Trucking and harvest was done by J.P. preceding the remainder of the wine making processes. The result of this comprehensive attention is a lovely Bordeaux-styled wine of light tannins, clean varietal fruit bouquet and a touch of magic. 40 cases produced.
River run has purchased grapes from Mountanos Vineyards since 1983. These organically grown and maintained grapes were planted in 1998. Resulting harvests have yielded a luscious straight-forward wine that displays the optimum characteristics of Chardonnay. The grapes were harvested at their flavor peak and vinted to capture all a Chardonnay can be by a cold slow fermentation in stainless steel. This wine is a pleasure to sip and can be enjoyed with grilled chicken or fish and is weighty enough for creamed pasta sauces. One hundred and sixty cases produced.
Cienega Valley is located west of Hollister on a unique limestone ridge and this ground imparts flavors of exotic strawberry fruit to both to the Syrah planted there. The vineyard is fourty-five years old.
Aging in Newer oak barrels for 9 months has accented this subtle spicy Syrah. The multifaceted character of this wine makes it an elegant companion to such diverse dishes as pasta, salmon and grilled meats.

Viognier is the most renowned of the Rhone region's white grapes. This 2 acre vineyard is planted on the southern border of Santa Cruz County. Blessed with cool even growing temperatures, traditional heat comes in October, offering perfect pairing of sugar and physiological ripening. The 2006 vintage presents a golded hue wine blessed with an intriguing bouquet and weighty mouthful.
Wirz vineyard was planted from 85 - 108 years ago, at more than 2000 feet elevation above the Cienega Valley floor. Moderated by the coastal weather influences and bisected by the San Andreas Fault, the dry farned vineyard is a mixture of granite and limestone soils, bringing ideal acid and pH values to the wines. These elements allow this vineyard - grown on its own rootstock - to consistently produce moderate bodied wines with spicy fruit and reserved tannins. Serve with pasta and meats.
